Just outside of Phoenix in the San Tan Valley last Wednesday 11/7/2018 an 11 year-old girl and her friend were approached by a man in a white SUV. The man told her that her brother’s had been in a bad accident and that she needed to go with him immediately. This happened in the middle of the day at about 3:45 pm near a park. She knew what to ask and questioned him “What’s the code word?” The man did not know and sped off.
Law enforcement is praising the child and her parents for having taken the proper precautions in case this situation would arise. The man who tried to pick up the child was described as white, possibly in his 40s, with a short beard. According to other children that live in the neighbordhood, they have seen a white SUV circling the park multiple times a day. “The man reportedly covered most of his face with his hand while talking to the girl to conceal identifying features, officials said.” If you have any information or see the suspect you are asked to call PCSO at (520)-866-5111 with any information.
