UK Government investing 26 million to battle modern slavery in Asia

The UK Government has declared that they are to “invest £26m into a string of initiatives aimed at combatting modern slavery and child labour across six Asian countries.”  On Wednesday October 3rd, 2018 the first course of action is to  “champion human rights in Pakistan.”

“From the clothes we wear to the food we eat, the insidious virus of modern slavery is infiltrating all aspects of our daily life without us even realising,” the Secretary of State for International Development Penny Mordaunt said. Secretary of state followed with “it is also a shameful stain on our global conscience that must be eradicated for good.”

The UK has also announced a £10m aid package to Africa.  This aid package with help protect children living in the Horn of Africa as well as routes along Sudan and Ethopia.
