Morgan Young, a victim services training officer with the Wisconsin Office of Crime Victim Services notes, “Child sex trafficking has been identified in every Wisconsin county.” She lead a two hour presentation on recognizing and reporting the signs of human trafficking.
” “There’s a lot of imagery out there about human trafficking that shows young, blonde white girls in shackles, ropes or binding, beaten and crying out for help. We need to think beyond those images; trafficking also means threatening to cause harm,” Young implored. ”
She explains that we need to try to break the cycle before more children fall into this horrific wheel. With attending presentations such as hers you are enabling yourself to become part of the solution. Awareness and education is key when it comes to preventing trafficking, because trafficking is often confused for domestic violence, sexual assault and sometimes drug affiliated crimes.
