California has become fourth in the U.S. of human trafficking cases. In 2017 55 cases were filed and 631 federal charges were made involving 186 defendants. 85% were sex trafficking cases while the remaining 15% were labor trafficking.
“These cases exist in our county,” said Melissa Chabra, chairwoman of the task force. “Much more than people realize.” In order to thwart the growth of trafficking we need to learn what all different cases look like.
