According to the FBI in 2017 Arizona ranked 3rd in human trafficking offenses and had the highest number of arrests. “It is anybody. Businessmen, junkies from the street, anybody looking for sex,” said an 18-year-old sex trafficking survivor, who spoke to ABC 15 they have concealed her identity for her privacy and safety. “Like 28th (Street) and Indian School, they’d just make you stay in the hotel all day and they would already have customers lined up.” She was just 13 when she was coerced and exposed to this horrific enterprise.
We know that talking about this issue can be difficult but it is imperative that we speak to our children and loved ones about it. There are warning signs for parents and the parents should be vigilant and aware.
“If children are aware that people don’t all have good intentions, I think that’s a great place to start,” said Roe-Sepowitz.
