Charity in UK taking down over 100,000 web pages containing child abuse

A charity in the UK called Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) reportedly took down over 100,000 webpages earlier this week, media that illustrated sexual abuse or sexual torture against children and babies in 2018.  Some of these pages contained videos or images of these heinous crimes. The Internet Watch Foundation say they have found an alarming spike in the amount of “material” from the past 12 months, although it has been taken down its estimated that they have removed millions of individual items in the course of a year.  The charities Chief Executive Susie Hargreaves said “It is shocking and deeply upsetting that these images should have been created in the first place. We have set ourselves an ambitious programme of work for 2019…By getting better at finding, and combatting this material, we offer real hope to the victims whose images are shared online.”

With technology constantly growing and strengthening its only a matter of time until all those responsible for posting these atrocious images will all be found and dealt with accordingly.  To learn more, donate or anonymously report any kind child abuse content, visit their website https://www.iwf.org.uk/
